Although not an official homesite, Tracy, MN has always held a certain charm for me. Caroline and the girls rode the train from Walnut Grove to Tracy to meet Charles. Charles drove the team from the railroad camp to meet them and continue on west to Dakota Territory.

Through the efforts of the Ingalls-Wilder-Lane Historic Alliance, (founded by John Bass of Shreveport, LA), the Chariton County Historical Society, and Chariton County Historical Tours, a marker has been placed at the location of the land once owned by Charles Ingalls. The Ingalls family did not remain here long at all. The family moved on from here to Indian Territory in Kansas.

The Ingalls-Wilder-Lane Historic Alliance and the Holmes County Historical Society placed a marker at the location of the land owned by Peter Ingalls in the Poplar Head community. Laura and Almanzo lived on this land in Holmes County for about a year before returning north. Peter and his wife raised their family
and lived out their days in Holmes county.

From 1881-1889, Mary Ingalls attended the blind school located in Vinton Iowa.
Once again through the efforts of John Bass, a plaque has been placed inside the blind school recognizing it as Mary Ingalls home for those years.
You can view the plaque up close at
this link.
It is a large graphic file.
